About the Appeal

Chief Executive Officer’s Message

St. Vincent’s holds a special place in the lives of many Australians. For 115 years we have been providing the highest standards of care driven by our concern for others, especially those in need. This focus permeates every aspect of our work, guided by our values of compassion, justice, human dignity, excellence and unity.

Every day at St. Vincent’s lives are saved or significantly improved. Hearts are restarted, tumours are removed, organs are implanted and new drugs are trialled. In the less dramatic moments, broken limbs are wrapped and the homeless are offered a safe place to rest. In every case, people are counselled and comforted as they experience defining moments in their lives.

St. Vincent’s is a leading teaching, research and tertiary health service. We have a proud tradition as a training hospital and are committed to nurturing new talent.

Our research, conducted in partnership with the University of Melbourne, St Vincent’s Institute, the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery, the Bionic Ear Institute, Step Ahead Australia, the University of Wollongong, Eastern Palliative Care, the Australian Centre for Evidence Based Aged Care and the Australian Catholic University is focussed on developing innovative treatment options to improve patient outcomes.

Our need to create this new centre is urgent and works have already commenced. We hope that you will find all the information required to help in your decision to support this important appeal but if not, please contact Kim Downes at kim.downes@svhm.org.au or on 9288 3369.

I hope to have the opportunity to thank you in the near future.
